According to www.dialaphone.co.uk, Alienware is developing a new phone based on Google’s Android opensource platform.

According to them it will have:

  • Classic Alienware eye catching design
  • Large screen with high resolution
  • Superb video gaming capability
  • Fantastic Audio
  • Built on the Google Android platform

Superb video gaming capability? On a phone? It better come with some external batteries or something then!

There’s hasn’t been anything official but rumors are buzzing about it. Alienware certainly has a large following with the hardcore gaming community. Many see it as a waste of money, but plenty still see it as a status symbol and are willing to pay extra just for the logo.

Would the same hold true for a phone? I doubt it. Every day phone users get more demanding from their phones. Form and style are important qualities, but more so than that now they need function. Who knows if this new phone will deliver?

Below is a dialaphone.co.uk artist impression of what they think an Alienware phone would look like:

What do you think about it? Would you be willing to buy one and pay a premier for a ‘gaming’ cell phone? I’m not so sure I would, and I’m about as much of a cell phone junky as they come.
