Most people know by now that Mozilla has been working on a new and improved version of their fantastic Firefox browser.

This new version of the beta (3) has quite a few improvements according to Mozilla:

[Improved in Beta 3!] Firefox 3 Beta 3 includes approximately 1300 individual changes from the previous beta, including fixes for stability, performance, memory usage, platform enhancements and user interface improvements. Many of these improvements were based on community feedback from the previous beta.

Among other features, Firefox version 3 includes:

  • One-click site info: Shows you all sorts of information about the site you are visiting. This includes information about the owner, if applicable. It also immediately notifies you if it is a site known to try to install Malware on your system.
  • Web Forgery Protection: If Firefox identifies a site as being a fake/forgery it will protect you and not show the content.
  • Add-ons/Plugins Version Checker: Automatically disables out of date plugins that have security holes.
  • Anti-Virus Integration: Will interface with your AV/AS software and scan downloaded executables
  • Download Manager has been greatly improved
  • Tabs are much easier to find and organize thanks to new menus features
  • OS Integration: Firefox theme automatically matches Vista, Linux and Mac OS’s
  • Better reliability, speed and memory usage.

There really is a whole lot more that it does. You can see for yourself over on the Mozilla beta notes for Firefox. Check it out and give it download!
