I always see a lot of posts on various forums and get asked by a lot of people about how to get true push email on their device. Not everyone has access to an Exchange server at work or wants to use Blackberry services directly.

I have always had great luck with and recommended 1and1.com. Their plans start at around $6/month for true Exchange hosting for your email.

Basically here is how it works:
For free you can register a new domain as part of the package
If you have an existing domain you can get rid of that crappy POP or webmail and switch your MX servers to point to their mail servers (they will help you)
You fill in all your information at their site and sign up
They provide you the necessary information and links to configure both your desktop Outlook client as well as mobile client with their servers
You start receiving immediate push email!

I can’t even begin to describe the advantages of true push email vs IMAP or POP access on your phones. It generally increases your battery life (no checking mail every 10 minutes needlessly), instantly syncs all your Outlook information right with the server.

It is useful on your desktop as well. The functionality is great. Emails pop up as they arrive as opposed to checking the server every few minutes. Furthermore if you aren’t at home, you get the extremely powerful Outlook Web Access (OWA) where you can access all your emails from the web in an interface almost like you were right at home.

Don’t own a copy of Outlook? That’s OK, one is included with your plan. They’ll send you the media if necessary, or if you have some you can just input the CD key they provide.

I definitely recommend them for anyone looking for an Exchange server for their phone or just for their domain.

For those looking for a less elegant, but free, option, you can check out mail2web.com. They offer similar services but you must forward your email to your provided mail2web.com email account. They do however offer full-fledged Exchange options also.
